Does Stages follow a Dance Syllabus?

We have been following the Northern Counties Dance Teacher Association (NCDTA) syllabus since 1984. This allows us to train our students to an extremely high standard with great results. Starting from Pre-primary all the way through Grade 6 and into teaching grades, you can gain qualifications in a vast range of styles such as Ballet, Tap, Modern Stage, Contemporary and Freestyle. For Acrobatics, we have been trained and are affiliated with both Acrobatic Arts and Acrotrix.

Will I do Dance exams with Stages?

Yes, the majority of our classes are examination based and we hold exam sessions at the studios, twice a year. We have a school show every two years, so during this time we often focus heavily on choreography, whilst still regularly going over grade work.

What should I wear for class?

Toddlers can come to class wearing anything comfortable and that they can move easily in, with non-slip footwear. As students get older, we do encourage them to wear a uniform, which can be purchased from reception. For health and safety reasons, we ask that hair must be tied back and off the face, and appropriate footwear must be worn unless otherwise suggested by your teacher. Ballet, Pointe, Tap and Jazz shoes can all be purchased from reception.

Please note – due to health and safety, we are currently encouraging students to not have bare feet.

How do I pay for classes?

Classes are paid weekly for the first four weeks, then monthly/by the half term/by the full term (5% discount given for full term in advance.) All classes should be paid in advance except for adults who pay weekly. Card or cash will be accepted. If you would like further information about direct debits, please enquire at reception.

Can I watch my child’s class?

For younger students (under 8), we allow parents to stay and watch the first class (pre/post Covid-19.) One parent can stay in the toddlers class at the moment. At the end of every half term, we have “come and watch” session for parents (pre/post covid) where you can sit and watch your child perform for the final 20/30 mins of their class.
